SAN ANGELO, Texas — On Thursday, Oct. 17, Brownwood Communications began receiving 911 calls regarding a disorderly conduct complaint at Chili’s Restaurant, 210 E Commerce. The calls increased to indicate that shots were fired at people.
Multiple police agencies responded to the scene and located a large group of people in the rear parking lot of the restaurant. This group was gathered around and aiding Alvaro Garcia Jr., 35, of Brownwood, who was lying in the parking lot. Garcia was suffering from a gunshot wound to his right leg.
According to a BPD press release, Garcia was at the restaurant with several family members when a male juvenile of 15 arrived. Both groups were familiar with each other and an argument began between the juvenile and a family member of Garcia. This argument increased as both groups left the restaurant.
As the groups merged in the rear parking lot, Garcia and the juvenile argued and threatened each other, which led to the juvenile allegedly pulling a pistol from his waist area and firing several shots at Garcia. The juvenile then fled the scene.
Garcia was flighted from the location to a hospital in Abilene.
At approximately, 12:45 a.m., Friday, the juvenile was located in the 1300 block of 13th Street and taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
