CRANE COUNTY, Texas — Three Buena Vista Independent School District students were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Crane County Wednesday night, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The crash happened at around 7 p.m. Wednesday on FM 1053, about one mile south of State Highway 329 in Crane County, DPS confirmed to our sister station, NewsWest9.
Counselors will be available to BISD students and staff Thursday and Friday for anyone in need of their services, the district said. Buena Vista ISD is closed for the rest of the week because of the incident.
DPS said the vehicle the Buena Vista students were traveling in was not owned by the district, NewsWest 9 reported. The driver of the other vehicle involved was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Buena Vista ISD is in Imperial, Texas, about 160 miles away from San Angelo and 220 miles away from Abilene.
No further details about the crash were available Thursday morning.
