UPDATE: (2:28 p.m. Oct. 17) The San Angelo Independent School District posted the following message on its Facebook page:
"Since approximately 11:00 am SAISD has been in constant communication with San Angelo Police Department, law enforcement agencies, and Region 15 Education Service Center regarding an unsubstantiated threat to Texas schools circulating on social media. These agencies have been in contact with the Texas Education Agency and the Texas Department of Public Safety. At this time there is no credible threat in San Angelo. We will continue to monitor the situation."
UPDATE: (2:02 p.m. Oct. 17) The City of Ballinger sent the following Nixle alert to its subscribers:
"According to the Attorney Generals office the school shooting threat in TX is not credible. Police presence will be at all BISD campuses as a safety procaution. For further information please contact the Ballinger PD at 325 365 3591."
UPDATE: (1:43 p.m. Oct. 17) The San Angelo Independent School District's Communications Director Jennifer Crutchfield was not available for immediate comment. FOX West Texas has reached out to her office via email.
UPDATE: (1:34 p.m. Oct. 17) Junction ISD schools were placed on a "soft lockdown" Thursday.
Rocksprings ISD schools are on a lockdown, school officials confirmed.
There is still no word as to where the initial threat or rumor originated.
Grape Creek and Schleicher County ISDs were not aware of any possible threats made.
Reagan County ISD schools were placed on lockdown.
Sonora ISD has an increased law enforcement presence at school campuses.
Bandera ISD schools were placed on a lockdown, which has since been lifted. Plainview ISD was aware of the possible threat. Both schools said the threat was not credible.
ORIGINAL STORY: Christoval ISD schools have been placed on lockout after receiving rumors about a possible school shooting.
Christoval Independent School District Superintendent David Walker confirmed to FOX West Texas that the threat was a regional threat to a Texas school, not specifically Christoval schools.
Authorities were called to the campus shortly after noon Thursday.
