Cinemark goes back to 1984 in retro film series, offers $5 tickets for 40th anniversary

A series of movies, beginning with "The Karate Kid", kick off Aug. 12 in theatres.

USA, — Cinemark is inviting movie fans to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary with the Big in ‘84 retro series, where moviegoers can see some of 1984's biggest films back on the big screen, including classics such as "Footloose", "Ghostbusters" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".

And to make it a little more retro, tickets for the select shows are only $5.

Schedule is as follows:

Aug. 12 – "The Karate Kid"

Aug. 13 – "The Terminator"

Aug. 14 – "Gremlins"

Aug. 15 – "Purple Rain"

Aug. 16 – "Ghostbusters"

Aug. 17 – "A Nightmare on Elm Street", "The Last Starfighter"

Aug. 18 – "Footloose", "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom"
