SAN ANGELO, Texas — The City of San Angelo issued a statement Friday morning to remind everyone that blowing leaves and debris into the street is a violation of city ordinance.

"We understand that many areas in town received large hail during last night’s storm causing an extensive amount of leaves to be knocked from the trees. These leaves can be bagged and will be picked up as part of your bulk collection. The City is working with Republic Services to provide an additional bulk collection next week in the hardest hit areas of town," the release stated.

City crews are out Friday cleaning streets and drains, but unfortunately it will take several days to get through all of the effected areas impacted by Thursday night’s storm.

The City is asking for citizens' help, if possible, in removing any leaves from the curb or street in front of residences as additional rains are predicted for this weekend. This will help ensure debris is not washed into drains and inlets which could potentially cause additional flooding of streets and other areas.
