The promotional video “Greetings from San Angelo, Texas" won first place in the "Promotion of a City/County" category of the annual Government Programming Awards (GPAs) competition of the National Association of Telecommunications Officers of America (NATOA).

The GPAs are annual awards that recognize excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies, according to a press release from the City of San Angelo's Public Information Office. Categories cover a variety of programming including community events, documentary, public affairs and public service, interview/talk show, performing arts, sports, election coverage and children’ s issues.

The video highlights footage of some of our City’s staple gems, activities and events, such as downtown San Angelo, Lake Nasworthy, the annual Stock Show & Rodeo, Angelo State University, Central and Lake View football games and more. The scenes play as 8-year-old Aubrey Groves voices over a lighthearted poem about all that our city has to offer. The end result is a video that captures the essence of San Angelo – a unique, hospitable and family friendly West Texas town.

The video can be viewed on the City of San Angelo's YouTube channel or on SATV, Suddenlink cable channel 17.

The script was written by Lorelei Day, City communications coordinator and voiced over by Aubrey Groves, daughter of City Public Information Officer Brian Groves. Aerial photography by AJ Deardorff, City network engineer. Additional footage was provided by Angelo State University, By the Stream Media and COVER1. The video premiered at last year's State of the City address.
