BROWNWOOD, Texas — Howard Payne University is inviting area residents and visitors to attend the 40th annual Community Thanksgiving Feast on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.
The traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey, dressing and all the trimmings will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in HPU’s Mabee University Center, 1219 Fisk St., in Brownwood. May's North Lake Community Church is leading and coordinating the event.
“Last year we experienced an incredible amount of volunteer participation and financial support,” North Lake Community Church Pastor Ron Keener said in a release from HPU. “We hope and pray for those continued blessings to continue this year. Everyone is invited!”
Volunteers will deliver meals in Brownwood and Early to those who cannot attend, with a maximum of 10 delivered meals per household. Reservations for meal deliveries can be made by texting 325-200-3445 by noon Monday, Nov. 25. Text reservations should include the recipient's full name, complete address and the number of meals requested. A confirmation text will be sent after text reservations are made.
Anyone interested in volunteering with serving food and beverages, boxing meals to go, delivering meals and cleaning after the event should arrive at the Mabee Center at 9:30 a.m.
To help support the Thanksgiving meal, checks payable to the “Community Thanksgiving Feast” can be sent to Katrina Lynn, Howard Payne University, 1000 Fisk Street, Suite 210, Brownwood, Texas 76801; or to the Mabee Center on Thanksgiving Day.
