Cotton growers need consistent rain, farmer says

Doug Wilde is the president of the Southern Rolling Plains Cotton Growers Association. He said expected rain from Tropical Storm Alberto isn't enough.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Doug Wilde planted the cotton on his farm in May. He said the ongoing drought conditions, along with severe weather threats such as hail, have hurt cotton growers across the region.

He and other farmers, he said, need about 10 inches of rain from now until September.
