COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety says a Dublin man killed in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash Tuesday afternoon near Proctor had been consuming alcohol.
According to a preliminary crash report from DPS, Eric Shane Covey, 43, of Dublin, was traveling west on County Road 436 on the ATV when he drove south into a barrow ditch. When Covey tried to steer back towards the roadway, the ATV rolled onto the driver's side.
Covey was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Johnny Conine. A passenger on the ATV refused treatment of her non-incapacitating injury at the crash scene.
