1 driver killed, 2 others injured in head-on collision near Stamford

The three-vehicle crash happened Saturday morning on State Hwy 92, about four miles southwest of Stamford in Jones County.

JONES COUNTY, Texas — An SUV driver trying to pass a semi-truck was killed when she struck a third vehicle head-on.

A preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened at 9:20 a.m. Saturday on State Hwy 92, about four miles southwest of Stamford in Jones County.

A semi-truck driven by Cody Dixon, 34, of Wichita Falls, was traveling east on SH 92. An SUV, driven by 21-year-old Madison Paige Stouard of Wichita Falls, was behind Dixon. 

A third vehicle, a box truck, driven by Bladen George Turnier, 23, of Fort Worth, was traveling west on SH 92.

DPS says Stouard tried to pass Dixon on the highway and struck Turnier's box truck head-on.

Dixon was treated at the scene for non-incapacitating injuries. Turnier was taken by ambulance to Hendrick Medical Center, North, for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries.

Stouard was pronounced dead at the scene.
