UPDATE: Drowning victim identified by SAPD, no signs of foul play detected

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (3:30 p.m. March 4): A San Angelo man found dead in the Red Arroyo near Southwest Boulevard and Sherwood Way has been identified as Samuel Cisneros, 68, according to a press release from the San Angelo Police Department.

San Angelo Police and Fire department personnel were dispatched to the area behind Enterprise Rent-A-Car, 2688 Southwest Blvd., just before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for the report of a drowning.

Cisneros was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard.

The release stated no obvious signs of foul play were detected. The cause and manner of Cisneros' death are undetermined. His body was sent to Lubbock for autopsy.

This is an ongoing investigation and there is no additional information available for release at this time, the release stated.

ORIGINAL STORY: Units from the San Angelo Police and Fire departments responded to a report of a drowning victim at approximately 9:30 a.m. Wednesday near Enterprise Rent-A-Car, in the 2600 block of Sherwood Way.

When they arrived, they located a body in the water, according to San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer Tracy Piatt-Fox.

Piatt-Fox said the investigation is on-going and more information will be given as it becomes available.
