SAN ANGELO, Texas — For more than a decade, the San Angelo community has held the 'Home Away from Home' event for young men and women stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base who can’t be home with their families on Christmas Day.
2024 marks the ninth year that San Angelo Elks Lodge #1880 will be hosting the event.
According to an Elks Lodge press release, the grant for funds this year has been reduced and as a result, they are seeking businesses that would like to help sponsor the event.
The lodge is soliciting gift cards (minimum $25), or other new items that can be used as appropriate gender or neutral gifts for the service members that will be attending. A cash donation is acceptable and will be used to purchase additional gifts for the event.
