Former Texas Ranger appointed new chief deputy for Tom Green County Sheriff's Office

Veteran law enforcement officer Nick Hanna was sworn in as the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office chief deputy Monday. Hanna was a Texas Ranger for the past 16 years.

TOM GREEN COUNTY, Texas — The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office welcomed its newest employee, Nick Hanna, at a swearing in ceremony Monday.

Hanna was sworn in by Sheriff David Jones and presented with his badge, after taking the traditional oath of office.

Hanna began his law enforcement career in 1989 with the Big Spring Police Department. He was employed by Brady Police Department before starting with Texas Department of Public Safety.

He retired after serving 24 years with DPS, the last 16 years as a Texas Ranger.

Hanna's wife, Kelly, pinned on his chief deputy badge at the ceremony.
