SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (2 p.m. Oct. 14): The Oct. 22 event is officially sold out.

ORIGINAL STORY: Death and dismemberment will be amongst the topics of discussion from 8- 10 p.m. Oct. 22 at Old Fort Concho, 630 S. Oakes St.

The historic 1800s landmark will be hosting "Fort Concho After Dark" to explore the paranormal and tickets are already all sold out for the Oct. 14 date.

"It's a popular event," Visitor and Volunteer Coordinator Brendalee Brown said. "People love paranormal and this is the oldest area here in San Angelo."

The evening will include a tour of various buildings on site including the office quarters, headquarters and the old hospital, according to Brown.

Visitors will be able to analyze the areas in four groups of 20 for a more personalized experience.

It is also encouraged to bring paranormal equipment to aid in the search for strange activity.

"We are just wanting to explore more of the history, the darker side of Fort Concho," Brown said.

The second half of the evening will involve personal stories from staff members who have had eerie experiences at work.

For Brown, paranormal encounters are nothing to be afraid of. They're also not out of the ordinary.

"It's not like they only come out at night," she said. "It's a daily thing."

Brown continued, "I will be here by myself and I will hear the footsteps walking back and forth," along with sounds of coughing and chairs moving, as well.

Other coworkers have experienced similar encounters but Brown said she isn't afraid because the intent doesn't usually feel spiteful in any way.

Throughout its history, multiple people have died at Fort Concho and Brown is able to give visitors a hands-on experience.

"And the thing with me is I'm not much of a believer," she said. "I have to see it, hear it, feel it and I've already seen it, I've already felt it and I've already heard it."

Brown said tickets are almost sold out for the event. Go to fortconcho.com for more information.
