High-speed vehicle pursuit leads to arrest near Cisco

CISCO, Texas — The Cisco Police Department responded Thursday to a high-speed pursuit on North Highway 6.

Shackleford County Sheriff’s Office was in pursuit of a vehicle which fled from law enforcement in the their county. The vehicle was a small pickup driven by Jerry Lee McGough of Moran.

Cisco Police Lt. Lloyd Fagan, assisted by Sgt. Tammie Stubblefield and Chief Kenneth Preston stopped the vehicle before it could enter Cisco city limits. Deputies from Shackleford County, Eastland County and DPS troopers arrived on scene, where McGough was taken into custody on outstanding warrants for aggravated sexual assault of a child.

A male juvenile in the vehicle was also detained for resisting arrest  after officers had to wrestle a handgun from him.

McGough was arraigned at Eastland County Jail by Justice of the Peace Jon Glenn. He was the taken to Shackleford County Jail on bonds set at $500,000. Additional charges are anticipated.
