MERTZON, Texas — Wednesday, Irion County High School hosted a career day for the first time in years.
A college counselor said the event offered students a chance to explore opportunities in a variety of career fields and a break from routine coursework. Ashley Hill- a member of Irion County’s school board- gave a presentation centered around her years in the oil and gas industry.
Students from sixth to twelfth grade participated, meaning speaker sessions housed attendees of various ages.
“It’s never too early to start figuring out your likes and dislikes,” Hill said.
Colleges, military branches and animal science professions were also represented.
