KIMBLE COUNTY, Texas — A 20-year-old Alvin man died Thursday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Kimble County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened at 6:53 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 10, approximately eight miles east of Junction.
Nathaniel Naseir Nava of Alvin was driving a pickup truck at a high rate of speed and tried to change lanes between the front of a witnesses' vehicle and the back end of a truck-tractor, DPS said. Nava's truck went off the road on the left shoulder and he tried to reenter the roadway.
Nava overcorrected and the truck's front wheel caught the edge of the improved shoulder, causing the truck to roll over.
DPS said the truck continued to roll across the highway and into a tree line on the right side of the highway before coming to a rest.
Nava was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck before it went into the tree line and came to rest in a berm. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Josh Cantrell.
