SAN ANGELO, TX — "We pulled into the gas pumps and they shut the gas pumps on us and I thought how odd," said Diana Gutierrez, a local resident.
We first got word of the contaminated gas through social media. A local resident posted this video with the caption ‘Be careful with the fuel from Sam’s’.
So we asked our viewers if anyone else had experienced any issues and many of you responded saying yes, in fact the gasoline had caused cars to begin stalling out and some saying their engine lights came on.
"I turn on the car and it immediately started knocking and banging and freaking me out," said Gutierrez.
She says she wouldn't have known it was the gas causing her car problems if they hadn't shut off the pumps while she was there.
"They said ma’am we're aware of the problem you need to come in and fill out a claim form, so they knew there was several other people already who had had that problem," said Gutierrez.
We reached out to the local Sam’s manager who declined to comment, however Sam's corporate office did release a statement saying:
“Saturday afternoon our fuel supplier mixed-up the fuel in some of our diesel and unleaded tanks at Sam’s Club #4948 in San Angelo, TX. As soon as we discovered the problem, we shut down the pumps and began the process of correcting the situation. Everything is now fixed and we encourage anyone who was impacted by this to please contact club management. We take our commitment of giving our members the highest quality product seriously and we apologize for the inconvenience. We are working with the supplier to address our members’ concerns quickly.” -Sam’s Club Corporate
“I’m glad they’re owning up to it and at least taking care of us, because that’s my main concern is getting back on the road," said Gutierrez.
