ABILENE, Texas — An estimated $50,000 worth of damages are the result of an Abilene residential structure fire Friday afternoon.
Residents on the 4400 Block of Sierra Sunset found fire in the attic of the two-story building after it was struck by lightning.
The residents evacuated and called 9-1-1, and Abilene Fire Department responded at approximately 3:13 p.m. where they found smoke in the attic.
AFD said the fire was contained and it started when lightning struck a roof turbine vent.
There are no reported fatalities or injuries at this time.
