San Angelo's Elks Lodge #1880 will have their annual "Home Away from Home" event on Christmas Day, providing a home-cooked meal, presents and conversation for Goodfellow servicemembers. The Elks organization is asking for donations of gift cards (minimum $25), or other new items that can be used as appropriate gender or neutral gifts for the service members that will be attending this event. Cash is always acceptable, and will be used to purchase additional gifts for the event. Gift cards, gifts or desserts can be delivered to the Elks Lodge at 2121 S. Chadbourne by 7 p.m. Dec. 23. The Elks Lodge is open this week and next from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Desserts are especially welcome, because they can be taken back to the base to be shared or eaten later.
