SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Concho Valley Community Action Agency (CVCAA) received two grants from the Texas Veterans Commission for programs to help West Texas servicemembers and veterans.
Both programs are open to active duty servicemembers, veterans of all discharge statuses and lengths of service and their surviving spouses.
One grant is a renewal for CVCAA’s Housing, Utility and Transportation Program and helps relieve financial burdens for veterans through rental/mortgage assistance, utility assistance and vehicle payments and insurance.
The other grant applies to the Housing Accessibility and Safety Modifications Program and makes homes safer for income-eligible veteran homeowners and more accessible for disabled veterans. This includes hole repairs on roofs, walls and flooring and wheelchair ramps/bathroom modifications for accessibility. Applicants must be homeowners and not behind on mortgage or property taxes.
To apply for help, visit the CVCAA’s website and submit proof of U.S. military service, proof of income, identification and other required documents.
"We are incredibly grateful to the Texas Veterans Commission for their generous support," CVCAA Executive Director, Mike Burnett, said."These grants will make a significant impact in the lives of our local veterans, helping them to overcome challenges and improve their living conditions. Our veterans have given so much for our country, and it is our honor to give back to them in this meaningful way."
The Texas Veterans Commission urges veterans and others to apply, even if they are concerned they might not qualify.
