BAIRD, Texas — The eastbound and westbound main lanes of Interstate 20 at the intersection of US Hwy 283 will be closed so contractors can reconstruct the US 283 bridge, the Texas Department of Transportation Abilene District says.
The closure will be from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, as the contractor sets caps on the bridge columns.
Drivers will be detoured to frontage roads and then back onto I-20 while the work is being completed. I-20 will be reopened to traffic as soon as the construction is done.
Motorists are asked to use caution if driving in this area, obey warning/speed signs, slow speeds, avoid distractions and watch for crews and equipment entering or exiting the work zone.
