ABILENE, Texas — An Abilene man died early Thursday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an SUV on Arnold Boulevard.
The Abilene Police Department said an SUV pulling a flatbed trailer was heading southbound on Arnold and had slowed and moved right onto the shoulder.
The motorcycle, ridden by Cody Sylvester, was traveling northbound on the same road, moved left into the SUV's lane at a high rate of speed, and hit the SUV in the front left fender and door. The SUV is believed to have been attempting to stop, based on the short distance traveled after impact, and the motorcycle was redirected back to the east side of the roadway, the APD said.
Sylvester was pronounced dead at the scene. The APD's Traffic Division is investigating the collision.
