REAGAN COUNTY, Texas — The Reagan County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement to the community Monday morning to make sure residents are aware there was never a threat made to the Reagan County Independent School District.

There was an active investigation of a threat Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024. Sheriff Jeff Garner and three Reagan County deputies conducted the investigation in reference to a social media post that resurfaced about a threat to the Midland-Odessa areas previously.

Law enforcement agencies in those communities were notified by the RCSO office.

Texas peace officers work closely with school officials to ensure any potential threat is thoroughly investigated and taken seriously.

"Our schools should be a place for learning, not fear. Let us work together to keep everyone safe," the RCSO said.

Law enforcement personnel were present at school Monday morning to reassure the parents of the department's continued commitment to serve and protect citizens and their children.
