ABILENE, Texas — A fire on Victoria Street in Abilene caused approximately $30,000 in damages Sunday night, the Abilene Fire Department said in a press release.
According to the release, at approximately 9 p.m. Sunday, the AFD responded to a residential structure fire in the 1900 block of Victoria Street.
Crews arrived on the scene to find an apartment in the back of the property with heavy smoke and fire showing. Crews made a transitional attack and put the fire out quickly.
The subsequent investigation showed an overloaded extension cord caused the fire. No one was home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross was notified to assist the residents.
