CROCKETT COUNTY, Texas — A 24-year-old man from Ozona was killed at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday in a single-vehicle crash in Crockett County.
According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, 1997 For F-250 pick-up was traveling north on SH 137 in a construction zone with a posted speed limit of 65 mph.
The driver of the pick-up was identified as Isidro Lopez Jr., 24, of Ozona.
Lopez was traveling at an unsafe speed, lost control and when the vehicle lost traction on the slippery roadway, according to DPS
The pick-up veered left entering a side skid across the southbound lane, skidded into a ditch on the west side of the roadway and rolled over several times through a pasture fence. The pick-up stopped, upright, facing southeast on the pasture.
The report states Lopez was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and killed.
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred 10 miles northwest of Ozona. The weather was rainy and road conditions were wet, according to DPS. The crash remains under DPS investigation.
