Pedestrian killed in Abilene's third fatal crash in three days

ABILENE, Texas — An Abilene woman died Tuesday night from injuries sustained after she was hit by a vehicle.

According to the Abilene Police Department, she was walking home trying to cross Ambler Avenue at the Westmoreland intersection when she was hit.

APD dispatch received a call of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at 8:02 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman, identified as Yeah-Sook Kim, 75, of Abilene, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. She died at the hospital Wednesday evening. The APD said Kim's family was with her at the time of her death.

Initial reports show Kim was crossing Ambler, walking south on an unmarked crosswalk. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck hit her while turning from Westmoreland onto Ambler.

No citations have been issued at this time and the investigation is ongoing, the department said.
