SAN ANGELO, Texas — A familiar face to West Texans will play a pivotal role in policy when Donald Trump returns to the White House.
Rep. August Pfluger will chair the Republican Study Committee; the largest caucus of House conservatives. Former chairs include incumbent House Speaker Mike Johnson and former Vice President Mike Pence.
Pfluger expects Republicans to be able to push forward a conservative agenda in 2025, having won majorities in the House and Senate. The congressman also said he plans to focus heavily on energy, with the Permian Basin's oil and natural gas reserves becoming key points of discussion for him and other House conservatives.
