SAN ANGELO, Texas — The driver of a pickup truck that led police on a chase after almost hitting a San Angelo Police Department patrol vehicle has been arrested.
The SAPD said 40-year-old Samuel Sutton is facing multiple felony charges in connection to the incident
A release from the department said a patrol officer tried to conduct a traffic stop on a Dodge Ram pickup truck after it nearly hit the officer's patrol unit near the intersection of State Street and Paint Rock Road. The driver didn't stop and led officers on an almost 10-minute chase in the southeast part of town.
An SAPD Anti-Crime Unit officer was able to position himself in front of the chase and successfully deploy “stop sticks” in front of the truck. When it drove over the “stop sticks”, the truck’s front left tire deflated. The chase ended safely near the intersection of Preusser and Emerick streets.
Samuel was charged with:
- Evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle
- Unlawful possession of a firearm by felon
- Parole violation warrant
- Possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1 >=1G<4G
- Possession of marijuana <2oz
There was no damage to City or private property during the pursuit.
