SAN ANGELO, Texas — Residents of Taylor, Callahan and Nolan Counties were invited to Abilene's Community Foundation to ask questions, raise concerns and make comments. Lambert delivered remarks and then participated in a Q&A. Topics of discussion included inflation, workforce development, school vouchers and the teacher shortage, something that is not unique to West Texas. There was also significant discussion about the upcoming vote for Texas House Speaker. The issue has state Republicans split on who they should support. The candidates are state representatives Dustin Burrows and David Cook. The vote to decide the next Speaker of the House is scheduled for Jan. 14.
