ABILENE, Texas — At approximately 1 a.m. Sunday, the Abilene Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 1800 block of Sewell Street.
Crews arrived to find the front of the structure consumed in fire. Crews quickly brought the fire under control but heavy fire and water damage resulted.
The resident was home at the time but was able to flee the structure. The resident was taken to the hospital by ambulance as a precaution.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the estimated damage is $40,000.
