SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (10:10 a.m. May 14): The San Angelo Police Department posted updated information regarding false threats to a San Angelo daycare facility Friday morning.

A social media post from the SAPD said: "Additional information regarding the “suspicious person/vehicle” and false social media claims about a possible mass shooting at local preschool/daycare:

On Wednesday, San Angelo Police were called to a local church that has a daycare program about a suspicious subject who had arrived in a Dodge Durango.

The man, who was reported to have been suffering from a mental health episode, went inside the facility and made strange statements.  It has been confirmed that although the man’s statements were strange, he did not threaten to cause harm to the school by gunfire or any other acts of violence.

Police later located the man at his residence.  Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office Mental Health Deputies also responded to the home and the man was subsequently placed on a mental health-related emergency detention.

Again, our Department wants to reiterate that no threats were made to the school.

Officials with the San Angelo Police Department and Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor this situation."
