SAN ANGELO, Texas — Police Chief Travis Griffith posted on Facebook addressing reports of alleged threats to Central High School. While the report was ruled as false, police presence on campuses across San Angelo was ramped up Thursday, Sept. 12. The chief said there are lot of “Central High Schools” and deep investigation is a big part of any reported threat.
Overall, the police department received four reports. Another police official says this is due to the recent shooting in Georgia.
“Anytime we see a active shooter situation in another state or a different county, that’s gonna be nation-wide," Officer Kelsey Hernandez said. "We’re gonna deal with that with police departments, with schools, so that is why we’re seeing this, just with the Georgia incident recently."
"The San Angelo Police Department is aware of a potential rumor toward Central High School tomorrow. We are actively investigating the situation and taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff. The safety of our community is our top priority, and we will keep you informed with any important updates."
