San Angelo Police Department releases 24-hour crime update

Two men are in jail after two separate crimes, occurring Oct. 30 and 31.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Wednesday, Oct. 30, at about 3 p.m., San Angelo Police Department received a 911 call for a drive-by shooting near the corner of Dallas and Howard Streets. According to a release by the department, a witness was able to give information to dispatchers and officers were able to locate 54-year-old George Torres. Torres was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony and is in custody in Tom Green County.

Then, Thursday, at about 2:50 a.m., police responded to the Allsups located at 514 North Main Street, where they arrested 21-year-old Jaylen Knight after he brandished a knife at an employee. Knight was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony and multiple outstanding warrants. One officer says the reason the department was able to deal with these cases so quickly is due in part to the hard work of the officers and also the community.
