SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University music faculty member, Dr. JD Handshoe, will perform a solo recital of music for low brass at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building Eldon Black Recital Hall, 2602 Dena Drive.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Handshoe will perform on bass trombone and euphonium. Hunter Mabery, ASU staff accompanist, will accompany Handshoe on the piano.
The concert will include:
- "Allegro Maestoso" by Jan Koetsier
- "Neuro" by Kristi Milby
- "New England Reveries" by Neal Corwell
- "Five Street Songs" by Charles Ives
- "Graveyard of The Gods" by Evan Zegiel
Handshoe is an assistant professor of music who joined the ASU faculty in 2022. He also directs the ASU Low Brass Ensemble. He has performed with the West Texas Jazz Orchestra, San Angelo Ballet, West Texas Symphony and San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, as well as a variety of bands, ensembles and orchestras in Georgia, Kentucky and New York.
Handshoe received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in trombone performance at the University of Kentucky.
