Angelo State Symphony Orchestra to host 'Movies' concert

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University's Symphony Orchestra will perform its first concert of the spring season at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2, in the Murphey Performance Hall, 72 W. College Ave.

"The Symphony Goes to the Movies" is free and open to the public.

The program will feature music from famous movie soundtracks, including:

  • "Also Sprach Zarathustra" from "2001: A Space Odyssey"
  • "Symphonic Suite" from "Lord of the Rings"
  • "How to Train Your Dragon"
  • "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"
  • "Pirates of the Caribbean"
  • "Mars" from "The Planets" by Gustav Holst
  • "Symphonic Suite" from "Star Wars"

The ASU Symphony Orchestra is comprised of more than 40 student musicians. The Saturday concert is being directed by Dr. Constance Kelley, professor of music.
