Angelo State ROTC detachment hosts annual veterans vigil Nov. 6

Angelo State cadets will stand vigil and read aloud short biographies of ASU alumni veterans until midnight.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University's Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 will commemorate Veterans Day with its annual Veterans Vigil, beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the ASU Memorial Oak Grove next to the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N.

Activities are free, open to the public and will include:

  • Welcome remarks
  • Invocation
  • Guest speaker - Kristie Young, San Angelo American Legion Post 572 commander
  • Flag retreat ceremony
  • Commemorative wreath presentation
  • Candlelight vigil

The candlelight vigil will begin at 5 p.m. with ASU cadets standing vigil and reading aloud short biographies of ASU alumni veterans. The vigil and readings will continue at the Memorial Oak Grove until midnight.

The event is hosted by ASU's Carr Squadron of the Arnold Air Society student organization and ROTC Det. 847.
