City of San Angelo building officials assessing storm damage at old Standard-Times building

Thunderstorms Thursday night into Friday morning caused a collapse in an area of the former Standard-Times building, now owned by the City of San Angelo.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — After thunderstorms producing high winds, hail and heavy rain across West Central Texas, City of San Angelo building officials are assessing damages in a partial collapse in an area of the former Standard-Times building on West Harris Avenue.

The main building appears from the outside to not have sustained damages, however the garage area near the former press sustained weather-related damages.

City Communications Manager Brian Groves says the extent of the damages are unknown and City staff are working to access the damaged areas to begin removing debris. Groves said the SAPD’s Drone Team was at the site earlier Friday to help assess damage from above.
