SAN ANGELO, Texas — Former Texas governor and US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry will be a speaker at the West Texas Legislative Summit, the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce announced late Tuesday.
The Chamber and honorary co-hosts Congressman August Pfluger, Texas Sen. Charles Perry and Texas Rep. Drew Darby, will hold the 20th annual summit Tuesday, July 30, in the CJ Davidson Conference Center on the Angelo State University campus.
Perry served as the 14th United States Secretary of Energy from 2017-2019.
Before joining the Trump administration, Perry served as the 47th Governor of Texas from 2000-2015, making him the longest serving governor of the state.
The summit brings together hundreds of elected officials and business professionals from throughout West Texas. It provides a forum for West Texas community representatives to spend a day addressing common legislative priorities. Attendees can meet and greet legislators, business leaders, panelists, sponsors and colleagues.
This year's event will focus on issues with the overarching theme of “Innovation & Certainty: West Texas Resilience and Resources Lead the Way” and highlight water, energy, border and cybersecurity.
