Lake View High School Mariachi set to perform with Julliard pianist at free concert

The concert is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at Murphey Performance Hall, 72 W. College Ave.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Music enthusiasts will have the chance to watch a free live performance Oct. 27 in San Angelo.

The Lake View High School Mariachi Los Caciques will host a concert alongside Julliard trained pianist Dr. Christopher Schmitt at 6:30 p.m. at Murphey Performance Hall, 72 W. College Ave.

This is Schmitt's second time performing with the mariachi band and he is traveling to West Texas from Washington, D.C., where he often plays at the White House and in the surrounding area.

Following the concert, Schmitt plans to spend two days working with San Angelo Independent School District fine arts musician students to provide seminars, concerts and rehearsals.

This rare opportunity was made possible in part by the help of San Angelo native and current Washington, D.C. lobbyist Mario Castillo along with mariachi director Rosendo Ramos and assistant director Ezra Ramirez.
