SAN ANGELO, Texas — For many Halloween lovers, the month of October is filled with apple picking, pumpkin carving and classic horror movies.

One other unique part of this time of year is haunted houses complete with figures in costumes, fog machines and plenty of jump scares.

Starting Oct. 13, Riverside Golf Course in San Angelo will be hosting its annual Night Terrors event with more horrors than ever before at 3301 Riverside Golf Club Rd.

The event is set for 8 p.m.- 1 a.m. Oct. 13 and 14, 20 and 21, then 26-31 with a haunted house, zombie paintball hunt and tarot card reading at varying prices.

"I think our haunted house is maybe a little bit on the darker side," Riverside vice president Matthew Drake said. "We do have a lot of actors that'll be in it as well as animatronics. We try to make it creative, interesting, interactive."

As the sun sets on the golf course, attendees can walk through a dark haunted house as they navigate witches, a butcher, dolls and more priced at $10 per person and $5 for children 10 years old and younger.

The zombie hunt starts at $20 per person and $5 for children 13 years and younger. Family packs are also available at $100 with tickets, food and drinks included.

"It's gonna be a little twisted, not for the faint of heart," Drake said.

Zombie hunt participants will ride a trailer through the woods as they shoot paintball guns at shadowy figures.

Younger children can also play put-put with targets as they collect free candy throughout the event.

Drake was inspired to organize Night Terrors because he wanted to create a place of fun for all ages.

"Things are limited in a smaller town and so we wanna give somebody a chance to get out here and have some fun, make some memories and that's what's important, building those memories with your kiddos," he said.

Drake's favorite part is watching the enthusiasm of those around him. With concerts, fresh cooked food and more, he is always working to offer a unique experience for the City of San Angelo.

He wants attendees to come see "A little bit of everything, some good eats, good drinks and good scares."
