New San Angelo police chief to be sworn in Wednesday morning

Votes from the June 15 runoff election will be canvased at the meeting, then Sgt. Travis Griffith will take his oath of office.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Travis Griffith will go from sergeant to chief Wednesday morning when he is sworn in as the next chief of the San Angelo Police Department.

A special San Angelo City Council meeting will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive, to canvas votes from the June 15 runoff election before Griffith takes the oath of office. 

The meeting is open to the public and will also be streamed live to the City's YouTube channel and SATV, Optimum channel 17. Public comment can be made in person at the meeting.
