Percussion ensemble from Angelo State to perform fall concert Nov. 30

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Angelo State University Percussion Ensemble will present its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The concert will be in the EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.

Special guests will include members of the ASU brass ensembles.

The music program will include:

  • "Stubernic" by Mark Ford
  • "Just Buckets" by Brian Justison
  • "Flight of Virtuosity for Handclappers" by Greg A. Steinke
  • "Head Talk" by Mark Ford
  • "Latin #4" with the ASU Brass Ensemble
  • "Fiesta Latina" with the ASU Brass Ensemble

Percussion ensemble members include Diettrich Arnold of San Angelo, Allison Culwell of Greybull, Wyoming, Mackenzie Estes of San Angelo, Gregory Heitzenrater of San Angelo, Tanner Mumford of Childress, Tony Navarro of San Angelo and Logan Perry of San Angelo.

The ASU Percussion Ensemble performs a wide repertoire of music written specifically for percussion instruments. The ensemble consists of students with varying degrees of percussion experience and membership is open to any current ASU student with a background in percussion.

The percussion ensemble is directed by Dr. Trent Shuey, assistant director of bands. The brass ensembles are directed by Dr. John Irish and Dr. JD Handshoe of the ASU music faculty.
