Learn summer safety tips at Safe Kids San Angelo event

Informational demonstrations at the event will cover hydration, boating safety, drowning prevention, Stop The Bleed, gun safety and outdoor injuries.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Parents and caretakers can learn all about keeping children safe while enjoying summer activities at the Safe Kids San Angelo Summer Safety event Thursday, June 11.

The event, hosted by Shannon Health, is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Goodfellow Recreation Camp, 1950 S. Concho Drive.

Free life jackets and fittings will be provided by Safe Kids while supplies last. Children must be present at the event to receive a jacket and be fitted. Car temperature tests will be offered by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Department of Transportation and the San Angelo Fire Department will present hands-only CPR demonstrations.

Other informational demonstrations will cover hydration, boating safety, drowning prevention, Stop The Bleed, gun safety and outdoor injuries such as falls, cuts and snake bites. Kona Ice of San Angelo will be on-site and donate 20% of all sales from the event back to Safe Kids San Angelo.

Safe Kids is a worldwide nonprofit organization dedicated to educating children and their families on ways to prevent traffic injuries, drownings, falls, burns, poisonings and more. Safe Kids San Angelo works with families and communities to share education and keep children safe from preventable injuries.
