SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Clubhouse will participate in the national Clubhouse Week of Action from May 28-31.
The week is dedicated to raising awareness about the critical role clubhouses play in supporting individuals living with mental illness and promoting mental health wellness in their communities.
Each day of the week features unique events and activities designed to engage, educate and inspire.
Event schedule:
Tuesday, May 28: Clubhouse Tour Tuesday
- Time: 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Details: Kick off the week with a guided tour of the San Angelo Clubhouse. Learn about its programs, meet its members and see first-hand how the organization supports mental health recovery. Tours will be every hour on the half-hour, starting at 9:30 a.m.
- Location: San Angelo Clubhouse, 404 S. Irving St.
Wednesday, May 29: Wellness Wednesday
- Time: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Details: With wellness as a key focus in the clubhouse model, the organization will spend the day focusing on various wellness activities, from a member-led guided meditation to a Zumba class and a dance lesson. Healthy snacks will be provided throughout the day.
Thursday, May 30: Empowering Community
- Time: 3:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Details: The main event for the week, State Representative Drew Darby will speak about clubhouses and the importance of mental health in the community. Several San Angelo Clubhouse members will speak about how the clubhouse model has changed their lives.
- Location: San Angelo Clubhouse, 404 S. Irving St.
Friday, May 31: Steps to Awareness
- Time: 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Details: Conclude the week with a picnic on the Tom Green County Courthouse lawn, followed by a walk around the courthouse holding mental health awareness signs. The clubhouse will showcase the need to bring awareness to mental health, while celebrating the achievements of clubhouse members and the support of the community.
