28 San Angelo ISD students receive College Board recognitions

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Standardized tests can come as a challenge for many high school students. 

Recently, 28 San Angelo Independent School District students from Central and Lake View high schools received national recognition for their scores on various standardized exams.

PSAT, SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) exam scores were all considered and the 28 students received AP Scholars Awards or a National Recognition Award. 

The National Recognition Awards were broken into four categories: National African American Recognition Program, National Hispanic Recognition Program, National Indigenous Recognition Program and National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program. 

Student honorees include Alex Sanchez, Anna Boney, Ariana Aguilar, Aydin Lopez, Camila Barrera, Gabrielle Alvarado, Gabrielle Flores, Hayden Conger, Ian Cortez, Grace Valdez, Jasmine Hoidahl, Jayden Wilha, John Elizondo, Joselyne Sanchez, Juan Garcia, Kesiah Martinez, Lindsay Leyba, Marisa Lopez, Natalia Salcido, Racquel Petes, Rowan Zak, Zaylie Flores, Austin Colvin, Eric Casler-Tate, Jace Jackson, Jasmine Myers, Tiana Samarripa and Baylee Stinson. 

"SAISD knows we have exceptional students and are thrilled when they are nationally recognized for their accomplishments," Advanced Academics and Fine Arts director Tiffany Huebner said. "The students that received a College Board National Recognition have proven they are academically exceptional in comparison to other students across our nation so we want to celebrate each one of them for their effort and hard work. Congratulations!" 

The school district accredits part of these test scores to the SAISD Learner Profile along with the teachers who have helped make this achievement possible. 

SAISD said in the release, "San Angelo ISD extends proud congratulations to these students, and commends their dedication to hard work and exemplification of the attributes of the SAISD Learner Profile. We look forward to seeing their hopes and dreams take flight. SAISD also thanks our committed SAISD educators who have helped these students along their educational journey and prepare them for rigorous AP tests and challenging curriculum."
