SAN ANGELO, Texas — For the fourth consecutive year, Shannon Medical Center received an “A” hospital safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety.
Shannon says the distinction recognizes its achievements prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors in the hospital. Shannon is the only hospital in the region to consecutively achieve an “A” rating in 2023 and 2024.
“Our vision at Shannon is to be trusted by the patients and families we serve,” Shannon President and CEO, Shane Plymell, said. “Receiving the ‘A’ grade recognition for the fourth time reflects the commitment of our providers and staff to making our patients their first priority by providing safe, high quality care and service. Thank you to our entire organization for your focus on always improving care and safety for our patients.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an A-F grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
