SAN ANGELO, Texas — Tom Green County Sheriff's Office investigators saw a man behaving oddly outside the TGCSO building Friday and alerted deputies, who arrested the man for posing a potential threat.

The TGCSO said it appeared as if the man was trying to watch the activity of deputies in the parking lot while trying to stay unnoticed. He was moving erratically in and out behind sea containers on the north end of the sheriff's office property.

Deputies made contact with the man identified as Jeremy Jay Daniels, 31, of San Angelo.

During the contact, deputies found Daniels in possession of a pipe he had converted into a 12-gauge zip gun. The gun was determined to be functional and had even been used as a firearm.

When questioned, Daniels made negative comments about his past interactions with the sheriff's office and said he intended "to use the zip gun to exact revenge against deputies," the sheriff's office said.

Daniels was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and local agencies were notified of the threat against peace officers. Jail records show, as of 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, Daniels remains in the Tom Green County Detention Center with bond set at $15,000.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office said it encourages all citizens to always remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings and to report unusual behavior to law enforcement.
