SCURRY COUNTY, Texas — A 22-year-old Snyder woman was killed March 21 when the car she was riding in collided with a pickup truck on Hwy 84 in Scurry County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a preliminary crash report the car, driven by Colton Shane Guynes, 35, of Snyder, was traveling west on Ennis Creek Road, approaching US 84. Guynes entered US 84, crossing the northbound lanes, traveled into the center crossover, then went into southbound lanes.
A pickup truck, driven by Eric Morin, 31, of Snyder, was traveling south on US 84, approaching the Ennis Creek Road crossover.
That's when DPS says Guynes failed to yield the right-of-way to Morin and caused the crash. Morin's pickup truck hit Guynes' car on the right side.
Guynes' passenger, Victoria Ann Salinas, 22, of Snyder, was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where she was pronounced dead later that morning.
Morin and Guynes were also taken to UMC in Lubbock, for treatment of incapacitating injuries. Morin's passenger, a 13-year-old male was taken to Cogdell Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
