It's time to renew that Texas hunting, fishing license before the current one expires

Current licenses expire Aug. 30. As of Aug. 15, you can get your new license online or at your local retailer.

TEXAS, USA — It's almost time for new hunting and fishing seasons, but before you hit the water or the field, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is reminding hunters and anglers to purchase the new licenses for the 2024-2025 season.

Current-year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except the year-from-purchase all-water fishing package) expire at the end of August. Licenses for the 2024-2025 season went on sale Aug. 15.

Texans purchase more than 3.9 million hunting and fishing licenses annually. Those purchases directly fund multiple conservation efforts and recreational opportunities including fish stocking, wildlife management, habitat restoration, public hunting leases, river fishing access and Texas game wardens.

Licenses can be purchased through the official TPWD website, in person at retail locations throughout the state, at TPWD offices or by phone at 800-895-4248 during regular business hours, though there may be long hold times during peak calling periods such as the beginning of the season. A $5 administrative fee applies to phone and online purchases.
